About Genevieve
Genevieve Thiers is a Chicago-based singer, actress, playwright, and speaker—a full crossover artist with opera chops, comedic timing, and leading-lady drive. Classically trained and relentlessly story-first, she can turn on a dime from heart to hilarity (and does it a lot).
Her credits include principal roles with Lyric Opera of Chicago (The Merry Widow), Goodman Theatre (Trouble in Tahiti), and Porchlight Music Theatre (Little Me, Follies), plus deep work across Chicago’s theater scene. On camera, she appears in RUN: The Series and has been featured in film and commercial projects. She holds a master’s degree in musical performance from Northwestern University and has earned multiple awards for her work including the Northshore Performing Artist Award and the Northwestern University Distinguished Alumna Award. She is a member of AGMA (The American Guild of Musical Artists).

Before she went all-in as a performer, Genevieve built something big in a totally different arena: she founded Sittercity.com and grew it into one of America’s largest online childcare platforms, serving more than 50 million parents and caregivers. Her contributions to childcare have been recognized by leaders including President George W. Bush and First Lady Michelle Obama, and by honors such as a CNN Young Heroes feature, the U.S. Small Business Administration Rising Star Award, and inclusion on the Inc. 500 list of fastest-growing companies—among many other citations. She’s also appeared in national media as an expert and advocate, including multiple appearances on The TODAY Show. Along the way, she picked up a nickname that stuck: “The Singing CEO.”
That origin story shows up in her casting. Genevieve is often the executive, the founder, the woman in charge—and she plays it with lived-in authority, quick wit, and the kind of confidence you don’t have to fake. She also speaks widely, mentors entrepreneurs, and invests in founder-led companies, especially women-led startups and innovations in overlooked industries.
Genevieve is also the co-founder of two twin boys, Aries and Leo.
